Established by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the 29th April 1974. The medal was awarded for long-term labor service in the fields of Science, Culture, Education, Health Care and state institutes and Social Organisations. Awarded to workers, or Kolkhozniks on reaching their retirement age.
The Obverse of the medal dipicts the hammaer and sickle over the CCCP (USSR) Letters. Below is the banner "BETEPAH TPYAA" ( The Veteran of Work. The Reverse has the inscription "For Longterm Conscientious Labor".
