The medal was issued in 1999 unoffically to mark the 120th Anniversary of Joesph Stalin. The Obverse of the medal depicts an above shoulder bust of Stalin, proudly wearing his "Hero of the Soviet Union" Star Medal. On the left is a railway track, leading to an electricity pylon, and the right of Stalin has a depiction of a power station/factory. The reverse has the russian words for "1879 - 1999 In COMMEMORATION 120 - FROM THE DATE OF BIRTH I.V.STALINA"
