Awarded by the government of Saudi Arabia to all allied troops whom took part in the Gulf war. Only a few of the 45,000 servicemen of the United Kingdom where permitted to wear the medal, after permission was gained from the foreign and commonwealth office. On the obverse of this medal at the top a palm tree with crossed swords, the national emblem of Saudi Arabia. At the base is the inscription 'Liberation of Kuwait' in both English and Arabic.
