The medal shown is the dated 1882 Khedive's Star. The Star was conferred by Khedive Tewfik of Egypt on all troops who qualified for the Egypt Medal. Several variations of this medal are found:
  • 1882
  • 1884
  • 1884-86

The Obverse of the medal shows the Sphinx head on, with the three great pyramids in the background. The date Egypt 1882 appears round the top, whilst the Arabic year for 1882 and Arabic for 'Khedive of Egypt' appears round the lower half. The reverse of the medal has the Khedive's Monogram with a crown above it.
