The medal was orginally the same as the Imperial Service Order, except that the
centre plaque was silver and the star or laurel leaf bronze. It was later issued as
seen here as a coin medal. This medal was awarded for long and faifthful service in the junior
grades of civil service. The medal was awarded usually after 25 years of
service. On the obverse is the bust of the regining Monarch at time of issue,
shown here is Elizabeth II. The reverse depicts a naked sitting man with the words "For Faithful Service"
underneath him.
