Who Owned this Medal?


Usually every medal issued is named to the reciptent, with the exception of British WW2 Medals and a few others. For a British Medal the following is average for being written around the rim of a medal:



Service Number: A number that is unique to each individual, usually does not change throughout career.
Rank: Indicates the rank the person was at time of issue, see below for abbreviations.
Name: The initialled first name, followed by surname of the recieptent.
Regiment/Ship: Unit above person was assigned to, see below for abbreviations.
