Notes : Awarded to aircrew for 2 months operational flying from UK bases over Europe during the period September 1939 to June 1944. This is the most sort after second world war star, only South African medals where named-these named medals are highly desired items. The ribbon depicts the sky (pale blue), with black edges (night flying) and two yellow lines (enemy searchlights).
