The War medal, the second incarnation of this medal, the first being the Silver issued British War Medal for world war I. Awarded to all personnel whom had served 28 days in the armed forces during the war. A bronze oakleaf, as seen here denotes a mention in dispatches. The South African and Australian medals were offical named, whilst the Canadian version was struck in Silver.
